New York City Mayor Faces Protest Over Policies From Muslim and Pro-Palestinian Groups

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani faces a planned demonstration outside his official residence on Tuesday night. Organizers say the protest will focus on the mayor's policies toward moderate Muslim communities and his positions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Anila Ali of the American Muslim and Multifaith Women's Empowerment Council told Fox News that she believes the mayor's actions have harmed relations between Jewish and Muslim residents. She stated that Islamist groups backed Mamdani and accused him of damaging interfaith ties.

Palestinian-American campaigner Nerdeen Kiswani said the mayor has not maintained the level of support for Gaza that he expressed during his campaign. " Ali also linked Mamdani's past support for the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement to strained relations between Muslim and Jewish communities.

She warned that the city could see increased polarization similar to conditions reported in some British cities. The demonstration is scheduled to include participants from Muslim, Jewish, and Christian backgrounds, according to Ali. She described the event as an effort to oppose what she called radical Islamism.
