New York, Maryland, Utah Hold Democratic Primaries Tuesday
Voters in New York, Maryland and Utah go to the polls Tuesday for House primaries that include several Democratic contests between incumbents and challengers. Outside spending from cryptocurrency, AI and pro-Israel groups has reached millions of dollars in at least two New York races.

Voters in New York, Maryland and Utah will choose nominees for several House seats in primaries scheduled for Tuesday. New York’s 12th District race has drawn more than $10 million in outside spending from groups tied to artificial-intelligence companies.
Leading the Future, a super PAC funded by OpenAI leaders, has directed money against state legislator Alex Bores, who supports additional AI regulation. Jobs and Democracy PAC, backed by Anthropic, has supported Bores. Lasher has also drawn support from a group funded by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
Mamdani-backed challengers test New York incumbents In New York’s 10th District, former City Comptroller Brad Lander is running against Representative Dan Goldman. Lander has received endorsements from New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Senators Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
Goldman holds endorsements from Governor Kathy Hochul and House Democratic leadership. In the 13th District, community activist Darializa Avila Chevalier is challenging Representative Adriano Espaillat. Avila Chevalier’s backers include Mamdani and the Justice Democrats.
Espaillat has support from Hochul, state Attorney General Letitia James and the state AFL-CIO. The open 7th District seat, vacated by retiring Representative Nydia Velázquez, pits Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso against state Assemblymember Claire Valdez.
Both candidates have received backing from Mamdani.
Utah will hold one Democratic House primary on the same day.
