Rama Duwaji, wife of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, is co-hosting an Islamic women's spiritual wellness retreat on Corsica, France. " The Women Sanctuary website describes the Virgin Mary as a Palestinian woman under occupation and notes she is mentioned 34 times in the Quran. The retreat starts at just over $4,000 per attendee.
It includes daily organic meals from locally sourced ingredients, communal prayers, devotional practices, lectures, workshops, meditation, journaling, pool time, and island exploration. The Women Sanctuary describes itself as a women's retreat organization rooted in Islamic tradition and spiritual renewal.
Duwaji previously co-hosted the group's "Plants of the Quran" retreat in Mallorca, Spain, over the July 4 holiday weekend.
Fox News reported she was seen boarding a flight at Newark International Airport for that trip, with photos posted by commentator Arynne Wexler. Mamdani was sworn in as mayor on January 1, 2026, at City Hall in Manhattan, becoming the first Muslim mayor of New York City and the first sworn in on a Quran.
Duwaji, a Syrian American artist, publicly apologized in April 2026 for offensive social media posts she made as a teenager.
