Zack Wheeler was not named to the National League roster for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia. His agent, B.B. Abbott, said the omission was tone deaf. “Major League baseball knows (about Wheeler’s injury recovery),” Abbott stated.
“Everybody knows what he’s been through. ” Wheeler underwent thoracic outlet surgery in September 2025 after a blood clot was discovered near his right shoulder in August 2025. He missed the first few weeks of the 2026 season and returned on April 25.
Through 13 starts he posted an 8-1 record with a 2.36 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 84 strikeouts in 80 innings. 580 OPS, fourth in the National League. Wheeler was not among the five National League starting pitchers chosen via the players’ ballot.
The Phillies placed five players on the roster: Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Brandon Marsh, Christopher Sánchez and Jhoan Durán. Entering Monday’s games the team held a 50-41 record and second place in the NL East after opening the season 9-19.
