Zoox Doubles Robotaxi Users While Waymo Grows 15 Percent and Keeps 69 Percent Share
Zoox doubled its monthly active users in the first half of 2026 after launching service in Austin and Miami and expanding in San Francisco and Las Vegas. Waymo grew users by 15 percent over the same period but lost share as it operated in 11 cities.

Zoox increased its share of monthly active robotaxi users to 25 percent in June 2026 from 15 percent in January, Business Insider reported. Waymo's share fell to 69 percent from 79 percent over the same period. Zoox doubled its number of monthly active users during the first six months of 2026.
Waymo grew its monthly active users by 15 percent during that time on a larger base. The data came from app stores and a panel of about 15 million users tracked by Apptopia. Zoox launched robotaxi rides in Austin and Miami and expanded service areas in San Francisco and Las Vegas during the first half of 2026.
The company stated in June that it is ramping up production of a new robotaxi. Waymo operates robotaxi service in 11 U.S. cities including Atlanta and Los Angeles as of June 2026. The service temporarily paused operations in some areas in May due to flooding and construction zones.
Waymo grew its number of users aged 17 to 25 several times over between January and June 2026. It lost share of riders aged 26 to 45 during the same period. Business Insider reported that Apptopia noted younger riders age into the highest-value years for a category built on habit.
The report also stated that Waymo remains years ahead in driverless miles and commercial cities while competing with Zoox for new demand in the same neighborhoods.
