AI software reads entire text from carbonised Herculaneum scroll
Researchers used high-resolution scans and AI to recover 1.5 metres of text from a scroll damaged in the AD 79 eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The scroll, from the Herculaneum library, contains references to Stoic philosophy and may be by Chrysippus.
