White House report: hospital contract ban would cut U.S. health costs by $45 billion

A White House analysis released June 18 estimates that prohibiting three types of hospital-insurer contract provisions would lower hospital prices 18 percent and family insurance premiums by about 7 percent. Aggregate savings could reach $45 billion to $63 billion annually.
