Maine Secretary of State Removes Transgender Sports Initiative From Ballot

Maine officials ruled more than 12,000 signatures invalid on a petition that would have asked voters to restrict school sports and bathrooms by birth-certificate gender. The petition drive fell short of the required total and will not appear on the November ballot.
