The 21-year-old Giants rookie had struck out swinging in a ninth-inning situation with runners on the corners and two outs two nights earlier. Eldridge homered in three consecutive days ending with the grand slam.
7 percent strikeout rate in his first 26 major-league appearances, including a 2025 call-up. His expected wOBA against breaking pitches has risen 170 points this season compared with last year. Eldridge is four games from first-base eligibility in ESPN leagues after making four starts at the position, with Rafael Devers serving as designated hitter on those days.
