In the 24 hours before the United States played Paraguay, 250 private jets landed at Los Angeles area airports, according to data from JetSpy analyzed by Business Insider. That figure represented a 45 percent increase from the same period the week before. Seventy-six of the aircraft were classified as ultra-long-range models. The group included jets registered to Nike, Disney, and Bill Gates.
Tournament-wide travel surge Bookings to and from the 16 host cities rose 68 percent compared with the same period last year, NetJets told Business Insider earlier this month. The company said it expected reservations to keep rising as the tournament continues. Group I, featuring France, and Group L, featuring England, drew the highest demand from NetJets customers during the opening round.
Stadium attendance and resale prices At SoFi Stadium, where the United States defeated Paraguay 4-1, several public figures attended the match. Tickets for the final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, have been listed above $8,000 on the resale market.
