Actor Scott Bryce Dies at 68 After Cancer Battle

Scott Bryce, an actor who appeared on multiple television series, died Sunday in New Haven, Connecticut. He was 68. Bryce received two Daytime Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera As the World Turns. He originated the role in January 1982 and appeared in five separate runs through 2008.

Bryce played Mike McQueen on all 43 episodes of the WB series Popular from 1999 to 2001. He also appeared as Will Forrest on six episodes of Murphy Brown from 1990 to 1992 and as Rick Bonner on The Facts of Life in 1988. His additional television credits include guest roles on The Golden Girls, ER, 30 Rock, Homeland, Chicago P.D., Blue Bloods, and Law & Order.

He also had recurring parts on L.A. Law and Beacon Hill.

Bryce was born in New York on January 6, 1958.

His father, Ed Bryce, appeared on Guiding Light, and his mother, Dorothy Bryce, also worked as a soap opera actor. Bryce attended Staples High School in Westport, Connecticut, and the Juilliard School. He performed on Broadway in 1977 in Caesar & Cleopatra.

Bryce died after a battle with esophageal and stomach cancer, his son Jackson Bryce told The New York Times. He had been diagnosed in October 2024 and discussed his health on an episode of The Locher Room last year. Survivors include his wife, Jodi Stevens, his brothers David and Phil, and a niece, Heather.
