CBS SportsThe 19th Adidas Eurocamp took place at La Ghirada Città dello Sport in Treviso, Italy, drawing 70 players from more than 25 countries and six continents. CBS Sports attended the event for the first time this year and observed three days of competition and scouting activity. Maurizio Gherardini founded the camp in 1999.
"The main idea was probably trying to somehow connect all of the stakeholders of the basketball ecosystem at the international level," Gherardini told CBS Sports. " Stefan Joksimovic, a 17-year-old guard from Slovenia who plays for Baskonia in Spain, was named MVP. The 6-foot-8 left-handed combo guard is viewed as a potential lottery pick in the 2027 NBA Draft.
Joaquim Boumtje Boumtje, a 7-foot, 245-pound southpaw committed to Duke for the 2026-27 season, stood out among the dozen campers already bound for NCAA programs. He will not turn 19 until the year of the 2028 NBA Draft. Malique Lewis, a 21-year-old 6-foot-8 forward from Trinidad and Tobago, has played in the NBA G League and Australia's NBL and is being recruited by Arizona, Oregon and other NCAA programs.
Javon Bardwell, a five-star Class of 2027 prospect ranked No. 13 nationally on 247Sports, is committed to Kansas. The 6-foot-6 guard competed on an Adidas 3SSB team sent to the camp. Josiah Rose, ranked No.
44 in the Class of 2028, won the Eurocamp Rising Star Award. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound point guard recently turned 16 and holds scholarship offers from Baylor, Houston, Indiana, Oklahoma State, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and UCLA. Max Staiger, general manager of Adidas Basketball, said the brand's priority is maintaining a platform for NBA-level exposure.
"I think as a brand we have the obligation to try our best to provide a platform where the next generation of players can not only be seen by a broad audience, but also gain exposure to the highest level of competition and mentorship," Staiger said.
Staiger added that opening the camp to college coaches would depend on NCAA regulations. "I think right now it depends on how the NCAA regulations evolve regarding international players, but it would be a huge win if it did," he said.
