The Adidas Trionda match ball has been used in 92 games across Canada, Mexico and the United States at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as of Sunday night, during which 269 goals were scored, ESPN reported. The ball is receiving a premium overhaul for the semifinals, third-place playoff and final. The updated version features a golden re-skin inspired by the World Cup trophy.
Host cities Dallas, Atlanta, Miami and New York/New Jersey appear in gold block lettering, while the remaining host cities from earlier rounds are included in the background. Lionel Messi of Argentina, Jude Bellingham of England and Lamine Yamal of Spain posed with the new ball, Adidas stated. The original Trionda design was tricoloured and featured stars, maple leaves and Aztec eagles.
This marks the first time in World Cup history that the match ball has received a total visual reworking ahead of the final stages, ESPN reported. Previously only colorway tweaks were applied. The updated ball will be used in the semifinals, third-place playoff and final.
ESPN noted that if FIFA calls the third-place match the bronze final, the game lacks its own special bronze ball.
