Air China to Start C919 Flights to Mongolia on August 12

Air China will begin daily round-trip flights between Beijing and Ulaanbaatar on August 12 using the Chinese-made C919, according to state news agency Xinhua. The service will mark the jet's first scheduled international route. The C919 has already flown regular commercial service to Hong Kong.
China Eastern Airlines introduced the aircraft on the Shanghai-Hong Kong route in January 2025. Air China added it to the Beijing-Hong Kong route in November 2025. The single-aisle jet is built by the state-owned Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China.
It is positioned as a domestic alternative to narrowbody models from Boeing and Airbus. The development program received government approval in 2007, and the first aircraft rolled off the production line in Shanghai in 2015. @SCMPNews reported the August 12 start date on July 19.
