Alex Eala to Face Iga Swiatek in Wimbledon Third Round

Alex Eala advanced to the third round of the 2026 Wimbledon Championships after defeating Maya Joint 3-6, 6-2, 6-0 in the second round. The 29th seed will face defending champion Iga Swiatek on Saturday, July 4. Eala had opened her tournament with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Renata Zarazua. Eala holds an 11-3 record on grass this year. She is the first player from the Philippines to reach the third round of a Grand Slam tournament and the first Filipina to reach a WTA 1000 semifinal.
