Amazon Sets Four-Day Prime Day Event for June 23-26 With Grocery Discounts
Amazon will run its annual Prime Day sale from June 23 through June 26. The four-day event will emphasize groceries and household essentials amid record-low U.S. consumer sentiment.
nbcnews.comAmazon will hold its Prime Day event from June 23 through June 26. The four-day format marks the second consecutive year the company has used the extended schedule. Prime Day is open only to members of Amazon's paid loyalty program, which costs $139 per year.
Jamil Ghani, Amazon's vice president of Prime, said the company retained the four-day window after seeing that members continued to browse and purchase throughout the entire period in 2025. The company will roll out limited-time deals and new discounts each day. Groceries and household essentials will be a central part of the promotions, Ghani said.
Shoppers will see produce, hot dog buns and meats priced as low as $1, while some personal care items such as soap are expected to be half off. S. consumer sentiment fell in May 2026 to a record low, according to data collected by the University of Michigan.
-Iran war were the main factors cited in the survey. Many respondents, particularly lower-income consumers, said high prices were reducing their purchasing power. Ghani acknowledged the economic pressure.
"Of course, we're sensitive and cognizant that there's economic uncertainty and everyone's trying to make their dollar, their euro, their rupee stretch further," he said. In recent years shoppers have used Prime Day and similar sales to stock up on utility items such as trash bags and dishwasher pods rather than discretionary goods.
Amazon is holding the event against this backdrop of reduced consumer confidence.
