American rider Brandon McNulty was confronted by an angry motorist before Tuesday's time trial at the Tour de France. The motorist overtook McNulty on his way to the start of Stage 16, stopped the vehicle, and McNulty collided with it, according to Mauro Gianetti, CEO of UAE Emirates XRG. McNulty was unhurt.
The driver was a member of the public and not affiliated with the race. McNulty was scheduled to race later Tuesday. Tadej Pogačar held a five-minute lead over Remco Evenepoel before the technical 26.1-kilometer time trial beside Lake Geneva on the border with Switzerland.
Evenepoel won stage 15 on Sunday. The race ends July 26 in Paris.
