Andrew and Tristan Tate Arrested in Miami by U.S. Marshals

Andrew Tate and Tristan Tate were arrested Saturday afternoon in Miami by the U.S. Marshals Service on a sealed warrant. British authorities are seeking their extradition to face rape and sex trafficking charges.

UK prosecutors announced the 38 new charges on July 19, involving four additional victims and alleged offenses committed between 2010 and 2017 north of London. Andrew Tate faces 19 charges related to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography plus one count of profiting from prostitution. Both brothers are accused of rape and human trafficking.

The dual U.S. and British citizens, ages 39 and 38, moved to Romania in 2016. They were arrested there in 2022 on human trafficking and rape charges, formally charged in 2023, and allowed to leave last year before flying to Florida on a private jet.

The Romanian case has not proceeded due to legal and procedural problems. Joseph McBride, attorney for the brothers, said in a phone interview Saturday evening that the new UK charges were “filth and slander” intended to derail defamation lawsuits the brothers filed in the United States. “They’re pulling out all the stops to make sure these guys never get their day in court,” McBride said.

The brothers are expected to appear in Miami federal court early the week of July 20.
