Angels Defeat Tigers 3-2 to End Four-Game Skid

The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Sunday, ending a four-game losing streak. Ryan Johnson struck out five batters and allowed one run over five innings to improve to 2-4. He permitted two hits and three walks, including an escape from a bases-loaded jam in the fifth when he struck out Dillon Dingler on an 82-mph sweeper.

Chase Silseth and Sam Bachman each pitched a scoreless relief inning. Ryan Zeferjahn surrendered a ninth-inning home run to Riley Greene that cut the lead to 3-2 but retired the next three batters for his third save. Drew Anderson issued two walks that set up the Angels' go-ahead rally in the fifth.

Nolan Schanuel, who finished with three hits, singled to load the bases before Jorge Soler delivered an RBI groundout for a 2-1 lead. The Angels added a run in the sixth when Oswald Peraza singled, stole second, advanced to third on a groundout and scored on Zach Neto's RBI single. Detroit starter Casey Mize allowed one run and five hits in 3 1/3 innings while striking out five.

He exited after being struck on the left hand by a 109-mph line drive from Jo Adell in the fourth. Kevin McGonigle opened the scoring with a leadoff home run for the Tigers. The Angels tied the game in the second on Vaughn Grissom's leadoff double, a sacrifice bunt by Josh Lowe and an infield single by Peraza.
