The 88-year-old actor signed with Decca Classics after a 65-year acting career. His first album as a composer contains pieces written across decades.

Anthony Hopkins, 88, signed a contract with Decca Classics to release his first album as a classical music composer on Aug. 21. The album, titled "Life is a Dream," contains compositions the actor wrote over many years.
The Philharmonia Orchestra performed the works under conductor Gustavo Dudamel. "Music was my first desire, my first wish," Hopkins said in a statement released by the label. "I've been composing music all my life.
Several pieces draw on Hopkins' Welsh upbringing and boyhood landscapes, the label said. Others reflect people and experiences from later periods of his life.
The actor has received two Academy Awards, four BAFTAs, two Primetime Emmys, and a Cecil B. DeMille Award during his acting career.
