Anthropic Agrees to Spend $363 Billion on Cloud Computing and Chips

Anthropic has agreed to pay Google $200 billion over five years for cloud computing and chips, according to a Semafor report. The company has also agreed to pay Amazon Web Services $100 billion over a decade and Broadcom $63 billion by 2027. The outlays mark a shift for Anthropic, which had previously spent less on computing resources than many large cloud providers.

The increased commitments come as the company seeks additional capacity for its artificial intelligence development.

Alphabet, Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta all announced major increases in capital expenditures last week. The four companies project total outlays for 2026 at around $725 billion, a 77 percent rise from the 2025 figure and higher than initial estimates for the year.

The spending reflects broader demand for computing infrastructure to support artificial intelligence systems. Anthropic's agreements will provide access to data centers and specialized chips required for training and running large models. The commitments extend through the end of the decade in some cases.

How the arrangements will affect Anthropic's operating costs or product pricing remains to be seen.
