Private investors recently valued Anthropic at more than $965 billion, ahead of OpenAI's most recent valuation of $852 billion. The filing places Anthropic alongside SpaceX in a wave of large technology offerings expected in 2026. Anthropic was founded five years ago by Dario Amodei after he left OpenAI.
The two companies have competed to sell similar AI products to corporate and government customers. OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman told CNBC on Monday that his company also plans to go public but is not in a rush. "We'll do it when it makes sense," Altman said.
Anthropic told investors it expects to reach profitability in the first half of 2026, citing significant growth in sales of Claude and related services. Fund managers said they will examine the forthcoming IPO prospectus for details on revenue, profit margins, and customer counts. S.
