Anthropic launched Fable 5 on June 9 and withdrew the model on June 12. Amazon researchers tested the system and found it could generate information useful for cyberattacks when given a specific prompt. The company shared those findings with officials.
Lutnick ordered the withdrawal the same day. The model had been used by Stripe to complete a large code migration that would have taken engineers more than two months. Amazon has invested about $13 billion in Anthropic. The model remains unavailable while the security concerns are addressed.
