This allows users to monitor live sports scores for selected teams or leagues through the widgets interface in the iOS 26 version of CarPlay. The update became available this week.
Users can choose between a league widget, which displays live scores and schedules for a specific sport or league, or a teams widget focused on favorite teams. Both types show live scores, though they do not update in real time. Testing during a Premier League match between Crystal Palace and West Ham showed that the game time counter did not progress instantaneously.
The new widgets are integrated into CarPlay's interface, which supports stacking up to three widgets side by side in compatible vehicles. This setup is less cluttered than the app's Live Activities feature, which creates a smaller widget on the dashboard for game tracking.
The update includes new features for Formula 1 tracking, such as weather conditions, track temperature, and wind speed for each race. The app is also equipped for the World Cup starting in June 2026, with options to follow favorite teams and view group listings before the tournament begins.
