Apple Adds Advanced AI Features to Siri
The company introduced an updated Siri digital assistant and new Apple Intelligence features at its Worldwide Developers Conference. The event marks the final conference under current leadership before a planned transition in September.
New York PostApple introduced an updated version of its Siri digital assistant powered by artificial intelligence at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference that began Monday in Silicon Valley. The company also detailed new Apple Intelligence features during the event.
The conference is the last one led by the current chief executive, who announced retirement in April after 15 years in the role. The position will be handed over in September to an executive who has worked at the company for 25 years, including the past five years overseeing engineering for the iPhone, iPad and Mac.
The transition comes at a pivotal time for the company. Artificial intelligence has unleashed the most upheaval within the industry since the first iPhone was unveiled in 2007.
Analysts expect the company to provide updates on new AI features, including developments with Siri. One analyst said an upgraded version of Siri could manage conversations and tasks across iPhones, Macs, and iPads. The company uses Google’s Gemini AI model to help power its AI features.
It has been integrating advanced AI capabilities while maintaining its focus on user privacy and its premium ecosystem standards. Apple has gotten off to a rough start in AI after stumbling in its efforts to deliver new features built on the technology, as promised nearly two years ago.
“An upgraded, agentic version of Siri — capable of managing conversations and tasks across iPhones, Macs, and iPads — could become as ubiquitous as features like AirDrop and Handoff, which already unify Apple’s ecosystem.”
