Perplexity plans to go public in 2028 regardless of how investors receive the upcoming IPOs of OpenAI and Anthropic. CEO Aravind Srinivas told CNBC the company had already set that date before either rival filed. S.

IPO on June 8, 2026. Anthropic filed last week. Srinivas said the company remains committed to 2028 even if those offerings face weak demand. He added that successful IPOs by OpenAI and Anthropic would benefit the broader sector.

“Agnostic of these two companies, we were planning for something in 2028, so that still remains the case,” Srinivas told CNBC. Elon Musk’s SpaceX is preparing to go public on Friday, June 12 or 13, 2026. Rappler reported that Srinivas said the SpaceX IPO will be a leading indicator of how Anthropic or OpenAI IPOs will perform.

“I certainly think there will be ripple effects if they don’t go well, like there is no sugar coating on that,” Srinivas told CNBC. “I think it’s important for the AI industry that these IPOs go well, and I actually think they will go well, because they’re doing well,” he added. The company has maintained the 2028 target since at least 2025.

In 2025, addressing speculation about Perplexity’s finances, Srinivas said the company was not running out of money and had no plans to list earlier than 2028. “By consistently holding 2028 as our earliest date for an IPO, Perplexity has been able to build a healthy, high-growth business,” Chief Business Officer Dmitry Shevelenko told Reuters in an emailed statement.
