Armenia's Ruling Party Wins June 7 Election With 50 Percent of Vote
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract Party received just under 50 percent of the vote in Armenia's June 7 parliamentary election. Two pro-Russian parties placed second and third. The Central Election Commission reported turnout at 59 percent.

Pre-election polls had placed the party's support at slightly above 30 percent. The result gives the party a parliamentary majority.
Armenia received 23.3 percent and the Armenia Alliance received 9.7 percent. Eighteen parties competed in the election. Voter turnout reached 59 percent.
The outcome allows the government to maintain its existing approach to relations with the European Union and the United States. It also keeps the peace process with Azerbaijan and the TRIPP regional trade corridor initiative in place.
