Arne Slot was sacked as head coach of Liverpool on Saturday, twelve months after he guided the club to its second Premier League title in thirty years. The team finished fifth in the league in the season that followed the championship. ” He added that fans “made me feel welcome from the start and helped me on the path.

Slot described winning the title as “beyond special” and said the achievement was “even more meaningful” because supporters could join the celebrations, unlike the 2020 title win that occurred during the pandemic. He also addressed the “shocking” incident in which 134 supporters were injured when Paul Doyle drove into them on Water Street in Liverpool city centre during the title festivities.

Doyle later pleaded guilty to 31 offences and was sentenced to 21 years and six months in prison.

The former coach also thanked players, staff and the club’s owners. “It has been a pleasure working with you all,” he said. “Liverpool’s 20th league title belongs to all of us and it will remain an important chapter in its history.
