Arsenal make £45 million permanent signing of defender Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen

Piero Hincapie has completed a permanent move from Bayer Leverkusen to Arsenal for a fee of £45 million, or 52 million euros. bbc.co.uk reported that the 24-year-old defender initially arrived on loan last summer and went on to make 39 appearances in all competitions. Arsenal won the Premier League during that period.
Hincapie can operate at centre-back or left-back. Bayer Leverkusen stated that the conditions for the purchase option were met and that the player will continue his career with the London club in the Premier League in the coming years. Hincapie is currently with Ecuador at the World Cup.
The team faces Germany on Thursday.
