Rates rose 21.2 percent in the North East, 9.6 percent in London, 8.7 percent in the East Midlands and 7.7 percent in the South West. Britain recorded 77 confirmed drug-resistant TB cases in 2024.
The World Health Organisation estimates that 400,000 people worldwide have multidrug-resistant TB, accounting for 150,000 deaths annually.
