The Atlanta Braves activated shortstop Kim Ha-seong from the injured list on Monday, the team announced in Atlanta. The move comes on the eve of a three-game home series against the Chicago Cubs at Truist Park, with the South Korean player set to make his season debut this week. The team said Kim will be in the lineup for the series opener on Tuesday.

Once he returns, he will take over as the Braves' primary shortstop. This will shift Mauricio Dubon, who started the season at shortstop, into a utility role. Kim, 30, signed a one-year, $20 million contract with the Braves in December.

He had spent the latter portion of the 2025 season with the club before re-signing. However, he tore a tendon in his right middle finger after slipping on ice in South Korea in January, which caused him to miss spring training. 286 with a double and an RBI in nine minor league rehab games before his activation.

He is a 2023 National League Gold Glove winner at the utility spot and is now in his sixth Major League Baseball campaign. Dubon has mostly played in the outfield in recent weeks and is expected to serve as the Braves' top option in left field. The Braves were idle on Monday.

Kim is the fourth South Korean player in Major League Baseball this season. He joins Lee Jung-hoo of the San Francisco Giants, Kim Hye-seong of the Los Angeles Dodgers and Song Sung-mun of the San Diego Padres. All four were once teammates with the Kiwoom Heroes in the Korea Baseball Organization.

The Braves hold the best record in Major League Baseball at 28-13. They lead the National League East by nine games over three other clubs.
