CBS SportsThe Atlanta Braves placed an outfielder on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left hamstring strain. The team announced the move and called up a player in a corresponding move. The outfielder suffered the injury while trying to beat out an infield single in the fourth inning of Tuesday night's game against the Chicago White Sox.
The outfielder and the team's manager had expressed hope the player would avoid the injured list.
Injury history The outfielder missed 15 days with the same injury last month and returned May 19. The outfielder has played 19 games between the two injuries. The outfielder said after Tuesday's game that the current injury produced tightness rather than pain.
Injuries have limited the outfielder to 557 of 877 possible regular-season games since 2021. This marks the seventh different injury that has sent the outfielder to the injured list.
Team performance The Atlanta Braves hold MLB's best record at 45-22 and a nine-game lead in the NL East. The team went 8-6 during the outfielder's previous injured list stint last month. The outfielder is in the final year of an eight-year, $100 million contract signed in April 2019. The team holds club options for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
