Baker Mayfield said contract extension talks with the Buccaneers are not close to an agreement. The quarterback made the comments Friday at his youth football camp. Mayfield is entering the final year of a three-year, $100 million deal signed in March 2024. He stated that discussions have begun but remain distant from what he expected.
Deadline and priorities Mayfield set a deadline of training camp for any new contract. He said once camp starts, the focus will shift entirely to football and no further talks will occur. He added that he plans to play out the 2026 season under the current deal if no extension is reached before then. Mayfield said winning a Super Bowl remains his top priority.
