Belgium trailed Senegal deep into the Round of 16 before scoring twice in less than three minutes to force extra time and then adding a late winner to advance. The Red Devils had looked inconsistent in the group stage, managing just one goal across their first two matches before scoring five against New Zealand. That pattern continued against Senegal until the late rally.

The United States observed the full match, including the 120-minute duration. Midfielder Tyler Adams noted that Belgium showed quality against Senegal and that the U.S. side could benefit from fresher legs after a shorter match. Adams also highlighted Belgium’s attacking style and the need to manage transitions.

He described the Belgian squad as having significant talent across multiple positions.

Belgium defeated the United States 5-2 in March. Captain Tim Ream stated that both teams have changed since then and that Monday’s game would be entirely different.
