Belgium Defeats U.S. Men's National Team 4-1 in World Cup Match

Belgium defeated the U.S. Men's National Team 4-1 in a World Cup match played Monday night in Seattle. The U.S. team entered the match with expectations based on the presence of several players described as part of a "golden generation." Belgium advanced after trailing Senegal 2-0 late in its previous match.

Belgium took the lead in the 10th minute.

Soccer analyst Taylor Twellman said the U.S. team made mistakes on the first two goals that should not occur at this level. "You cannot forget fundamentals," Twellman said. The U.S. team created few scoring chances and faced an organized Belgian defense.
