Benfica Signs Jhon Duran on Season-Long Loan from Al-Nassr with Option to Buy

Jhon Duran joined Benfica on a season-long loan from Al-Nassr, The Bbc reported. Benfica will pay a £5.19m loan fee and holds an option to complete a permanent transfer for £25.5m at the end of the 2026-27 season. The 22-year-old Colombia international arrived in Lisbon as the seventh club of his career.

Duran said he was happy to join what he called the biggest club in Portugal and added that he held very high expectations for his time there. Duran began his professional career with Envigado in Colombia in 2019. He moved to Chicago Fire in MLS in 2022 and then joined Aston Villa for £14m in January 2023.

Aston Villa sold him to Al-Nassr for £71m in January 2025 after he scored a winner against Bayern Munich in the Champions League. He scored eight goals in 13 games for the Saudi club before a loan to Fenerbahce. Jose Mourinho was sacked less than a month after Duran made his debut at Fenerbahce.

The loan ended in February 2026, after which Duran joined Zenit and scored three goals in nine games. Duran now has the chance to settle at Benfica after moving between clubs in seven countries.
