The Toronto Blue Jays scored five runs in the sixth inning to defeat the Baltimore Orioles 6-4 on Sunday. Yohendrick Piñango opened the inning with a solo home run off Shane Baz, his fourth of the season. Andrés Giménez scored the tiebreaking run on an infield single by pinch hitter Nathan Lukes.

Kazuma Okamoto, Giménez and Lukes each recorded an RBI hit during the rally. The Orioles had taken a 4-1 lead in the fifth inning. Colton Cowser hit a one-out solo home run, his sixth of the season. Jackson Holliday tripled and Blaze Alexander doubled before Taylor Ward hit a two-run home run, his third.

Kevin Gausman allowed four runs in the fifth inning. Yennier Cano entered in the sixth and fielded a grounder that deflected to Holliday at second base. Holliday threw to first base as Giménez broke from third and scored.

Second base umpire Nic Lentz did not call Ernie Clement out for leaving the baseline on an earlier play. The Orioles lost their second consecutive game. Adam Macko pitched one inning and earned the win, improving to 2-0.

Louis Varland recorded the final four outs for his 11th save in 11 opportunities. Brandon Valenzuela hit a solo home run off Rico Garcia in the eighth inning, his seventh of the season. Giménez finished with two hits and one RBI.

Baltimore had not named a starter for Monday’s home game against Seattle. 80 ERA. 46 ERA.
