Braves pitcher exits after line drive to forearm

A left-handed pitcher left Sunday's game after being hit on the left forearm by a line drive during a 10-9 loss. The manager said X-rays were negative but added that the pitcher is expected to undergo more tests. "It's probably an IL," the manager said.

The pitcher allowed six hits and five runs, four earned, across 4 1/3 innings. He walked two batters and recorded one strikeout before exiting. After the liner struck him, the pitcher threw out the batter at first base.

The batter appeared concerned and offered encouragement while returning to the dugout. "I don't think it's anything broken, but it's still an IL likely," the manager said. " The team has been using a six-man rotation that leaves only seven relievers in the bullpen.

The manager said an injured-list move would likely allow the addition of a reliever to reach an eight-man bullpen.
