The Atlanta Braves recalled right-handed pitcher Owen Murphy and outfielder Brewer Hicklen while placing outfielder Mike Yastrzemski on the 10-day injured list with left elbow inflammation. The team also optioned right-handed pitcher James Karinchak to Triple-A Gwinnett and outrighted outfielder José.
Murphy returns after making his MLB debut the previous week, when he pitched out of the bullpen against the New York Mets and took the loss.
The Braves announced the moves at 2:00 PM ET while playing a series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Earlier in the week the Braves said JR Ritchie would start in place of Hurston Waldrep. Yardbarker.com reported that Murphy, a starting pitcher, could see starts in the second half as the club seeks rotation options.
