Samir Xaud, 42, is accused of using Brazilian Football Confederation funds for trips involving two women. The federation rejected the claims and said expenses are tied only to official activities.
nypost.comBrazilian Football Confederation President Samir Xaud, 42, is accused of using federation funds to fly fitness entrepreneur Camila Cristina Andrade to New York and cover an eight-day stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Central hotel. The reservation was booked under Xaud’s name and cost roughly $11,500, according to reporting by Portal Leo Dias.
Photos published by the outlet show Xaud and Andrade dining at Harry Cipriani on June 3 before departing in a vehicle the report says was rented by the federation.
Xaud later flew from New York to Brazil to attend the Brazil women’s national team match against the United States on June 8, then traveled to Mexico City to meet his wife of more than 20 years, Natalia Xaud, for the World Cup opening ceremony. The couple has three children.
Portal Leo Dias also reported that Xaud used federation funds to send model and influencer Tamares Fernandes Barcellos to Qatar for a FIFA Intercontinental World Cup match in December 2025.
The trip included a business-class Emirates flight and a stay at the Ritz-Carlton Doha from December 15-19, with the federation paying nearly $3,400 for the hotel. The Brazilian Football Confederation issued a statement to Radio Itatiaia rejecting the allegations.
“Expenses incurred by the entity are exclusively linked to the CBF’s institutional activities, and personal expenses of its directors are covered by themselves,” the statement said.
The federation added that its administration is based on transparency, administrative responsibility, and integrity. Xaud paid the New York hotel charges on Sunday after being contacted by Portal Leo Dias, according to Infobae. It remains unclear whether he reimbursed the federation for the December flight or other travel costs.
The controversy prompted Xaud to step away temporarily from Brazil’s training base in New Jersey while the national team prepared for a match against Haiti in Philadelphia. He later attended Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Haiti and was seen in a luxury suite with FIFA’s president and Brazilian soccer legends.
