Brendan Sorsby to Enter 2027 NFL Draft After Dropping Litigation Plans

Brendan Sorsby will not pursue litigation against the NFL and will instead prepare for the 2027 draft. The league sent a memo to all 32 teams on Tuesday confirming that Sorsby will enter the league through the 2027 draft and that no further litigation will occur.

For league and collective bargaining agreement purposes, Sorsby will be treated as a draft-eligible player for 2027. He will not be eligible to sign an NFL player contract until after that draft is completed.

The memo stated the league retains the right to investigate his conduct beyond current public filings and to consider past college misconduct when setting discipline for future violations. Sorsby, 22, released a statement accepting full responsibility for his actions.

He said he recently completed an in-patient rehab program for a gambling addiction and had placed thousands of bets, including many on college football, during his collegiate career. "I did not have control of my gambling problem and it took getting caught for me to realize that," Sorsby stated.

He added that developments around the supplemental draft do not alter his recovery and that he remains committed to preparing for the 2027 draft. Sorsby admitted wagering at least $90,000 on more than 9,000 bets, including on Indiana football.
