Brendan Sorsby Enters NFL Supplemental Draft After Completing Gambling Treatment

Former Texas Tech and Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby is entering the NFL supplemental draft scheduled for July 2026. A Sunday report stated the New York Jets may not target Sorsby if he is approved for the supplemental draft because of concerns about his gambling addiction. The Jets currently list Geno Smith, Cade Klubnik, Brady Cook, and Bailey Zappe at quarterback.
Sorsby admitted to placing 40 bets on the Indiana Hoosiers while serving as a backup for the team from 2022-23. He stated he never wagered on games he played in. Sorsby recently left Texas Tech. He received treatment for his gambling addiction and anxiety for 35 days at a rehab center in Arizona.
Sorsby measures 6-foot-3 and 235 pounds. 4 percent of his passes. Geno Smith went 2-13 in 15 starts with the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2025 season, throwing 19 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions.
Using a supplemental draft pick on Sorsby requires a team to forfeit a corresponding pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. The upcoming draft class is headlined by Texas Longhorns star Arch Manning and Oregon Ducks standout Dante Moore.
