Brian Rolapp to Become PGA Tour Commissioner on January 1
PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp will assume the commissioner role on January 1 after Jay Monahan steps down at the end of the year. The transition follows Rolapp's introduction of competitive model changes set for 2028.

Brian Rolapp will take over as PGA Tour commissioner on January 1, the tour announced Tuesday. Jay Monahan will step down at the end of the year after serving in the role since 2017. Rolapp was hired as PGA Tour CEO in June 2025.
He previously spent 22 years at the NFL, most recently as chief media and business officer. He will become the tour's fifth commissioner. The announcement came after Rolapp introduced sweeping changes to the tour's competitive model that will take effect in 2028.
Joe Gorder, chairman of the PGA Tour's Policy Board and PGA Tour Enterprises Board, said the handover from Monahan to Rolapp has been a textbook transition. "I am grateful for the trust the boards have placed in me and for the opportunity to serve the PGA Tour and our membership as commissioner," Rolapp said in a statement.
Gorder credited Monahan for supporting Rolapp over the past year and providing wisdom during the process.
ESPN reported that PGA Tour members have praised Rolapp's transparency during the planning for the new model and upcoming broadcast negotiations. Longtime member Lucas Glover noted that player meetings on the future model lasted more than an hour.
