British Teenager Dies After Fall From Athens Hotel Balcony

A 17-year-old British male died after falling from a hotel balcony in the Athens suburb of Chalandri, Greece, at 05:00 local time on 3 July, The BBC reported. He was taken to Red Cross Hospital in Athens in critical condition. The teenager's parents released a statement on Friday through the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office.

"It is not possible to put into words the shock and heartbreak we feel from the sudden loss of our beloved child," they said. "He was a deeply loved son, an exceptional guitarist and a friend to so many. Full of laughter, he was someone who brought joy wherever he went," the parents added.

They described a space in the world that was uniquely his and thanked those who offered support during an incredibly difficult time. The parents urged other travelers to obtain a Global Health Insurance Card to ease access to state healthcare abroad. The boy's name has not been released.

A police investigation into the incident remains ongoing, The BBC reported.
