Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken said the team has two starting-level quarterbacks after the eighth OTA session on Wednesday. Monken told reporters he remains undecided between the options but is encouraged by their progress. “Every day I kind of lean one way or the other with quarterbacks.

But we’ve still got to get to that point. But I’m fired up by the quarterbacks. I just tell you, we’ve got two starting-level quarterbacks. com.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that Deshaun Watson holds the inside track for the starting job. Watson has said Monken’s offense, which mixes Air Raid concepts with freedom to improvise outside the pocket, fits his skills. Fowler added that Shedeur Sanders, a second-year passer, has flashed during spring practices.

Monken addressed the possibility of adding Brendan Sorsby, whose gambling infractions led the NCAA to revoke his collegiate eligibility. “That’s not even come across my desk. I like the quarterbacks that we have.

3 The Fan. “Irrespective of talent, in terms of the situation [Sorsby’s] put himself in, we all know what that is.

Monken said any decision on Sorsby would rest with general manager Andrew Berry and team management. “Again, that’s a question for [Berry] and for management. But from my end of it, kind of a tough angle to go down that road and think that’s going to be your franchise quarterback, if he’s ever eligible to even play in the NFL,” he said.

Berry stated the team will evaluate all prospects before deciding. “We’ll do work on all the prospects and then make the appropriate decision,” Berry said via Zac Jackson of The Athletic. Sorsby impressed during his second year as Cincinnati’s starter in 2025 and signed a $6 million NIL deal to join Texas Tech in 2026.

A strong season in Lubbock could have positioned him for a first-round grade in the 2027 draft. Sorsby must apply for the NFL supplemental draft by June 22. The league will review his case, which includes extensive sports betting during college and subsequent treatment for a gambling addiction, before determining eligibility.

The Browns traded Myles Garrett for draft capital earlier this offseason.
