Bungie Ends New Content for Destiny 2 After June Updates

Bungie announced that Destiny 2 will stop receiving new expansions after June and will move into maintenance mode. The studio plans a handful of final updates this month, including tiered loot, a Moments of Triumph event, and Sparrow racing. The decision follows a six-month period without new content.

Bungie stated that players will be the first to know if additional Destiny news is released, but no sequel was announced.

2 reached lifetime peaks during its Light and Darkness era two years ago. The studio later reduced its content schedule to two small expansions and two smaller updates, which it was unable to sustain for a full year.

Hundreds of developers were reassigned from Destiny 2 to Marathon.
