BYD plans 3,000 fast chargers across Europe by 2027
The company will install 1,500-kilowatt stations in multiple countries. Initial units are already operating in Germany and the UK.
The VergeBYD announced plans to install 3,000 fast chargers across Europe by the end of 2027. The 1,500-kilowatt stations are designed to charge compatible vehicles to 70 percent in five minutes. The company has already placed the first units in Germany and the UK. Each charger is estimated to cost about €580,000.
Technical details The stations draw power from on-site batteries that recharge overnight. Any vehicle with a CCS port can connect, though only models equipped with BYD's Blade Battery reach the maximum speed. One such model, the Denza Z9 GT, is currently the only vehicle in Europe certified for the top rate.
Tesla operates roughly 20,000 chargers on the continent at lower power levels. The Verge reported the rollout and cost figures.
