Caitlin Clark Reaches 600 Career Assists Fastest in WNBA History as Abdul-Jabbar Calls Her Very Good Player

Caitlin Clark became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 600 career assists during a blowout win over the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday while playing under a minutes restriction. Newsweek reported that Clark, selected first overall in the 2024 draft, earned near-unanimous Rookie of the Year honors that season after setting multiple league records.
Now in her third season with the Indiana Fever, Clark is averaging 20.1 points and 7.8 assists per game.
She has dealt with a back injury that has kept her in and out of the lineup. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wrote on his Substack that Clark is a very good, possibly even a great, player. He added that calling any one player the face of the league without the dominance shown by Michael Jordan or LeBron James insults many great players.
Abdul-Jabbar specifically referenced Las Vegas Aces forward A'ja Wilson, a seven-time All-Star and the current favorite to win her fifth league MVP award. The Fever have won four of their last five games and will play the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday night.
