Canada Faces Morocco in 2026 World Cup Round of 16 Match

Canada and Morocco meet in a Round of 16 match at 1 p.m. ET on July 4 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. Canada reached the knockout stage for the first time after finishing second in its group. The team drew with Bosnia and Herzegovina, defeated Qatar 6-0, lost 2-1 to Switzerland, and advanced past South Africa with a 1-0 win on a 92nd-minute goal by Stephen Eustáquio.

Morocco also finished second in its group behind Brazil. The Atlas Lions drew 1-1 with Brazil, defeated Haiti and Scotland, and advanced past the Netherlands on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Canada captain Alphonso Davies is available after missing earlier matches.

Morocco fields captain Achraf Hakimi, goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi and forward Ismael Saibari. The winner faces the winner of Paraguay versus France in a quarterfinal on July 9 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Paraguay last appeared at the World Cup in 2010 and defeated Germany on penalties in the Round of 32.
