Cardinals Reinstate Stanek from Paternity List and Option Graceffo to Triple-A

The St. Louis Cardinals reinstated right-hander Ryne Stanek from the paternity list ahead of Friday's game against the Chicago Cubs and optioned right-hander Gordon Graceffo to Triple-A Memphis, ESPN reported. Cardinals right-hander Dustin May threw in the outfield before the game, one day after suffering a right-ankle contusion.
May was struck by Dominic Smith's low liner in the first inning of Thursday's 11-5 win over the Atlanta Braves. The ball deflected into right field for a bases-clearing double. May allowed two more singles before exiting after recording just two outs and surrendering five runs.
Stanek, 34, is in his 10th MLB season. He holds a 2-1 record with one save and a 5.12 ERA across 31⅔ innings in 35 games this year. Graceffo, 26, is 6-1 with a 3.35 ERA in 40⅓ innings over 35 relief appearances.
He earned his sixth win on Thursday by pitching a scoreless sixth inning in the comeback victory.
